Quotes from Church History - #52

"What could be briefer, truer, better for the soul to know? For this is all a person is—a keeper of God’s commandments. Not being such, he is, so to say, nothing at all, because instead of being constantly reshaped to the image of the truth, he remains bogged down in the likeness of shadow."

Quotes from Church History - #51

"Whatever it is that you want to do for the saints,
turn your attention away from the dead toward
the living. The living saints are your neighbors,
the naked, the hungry, the thirsty, the poor
people who have wives and children and suffer
shame. Direct your help toward them, begin
your work here."

-Martin Luther

Not Without Witness

The Mountain

In the words of Acts 14:17, God "did not leave himself without witness." While God primarily and supremely reveals himself to us in the person of Jesus Christ, He shows himself through the created order. Wayne Grudem says in his Systematic Theology (which we just finished reading this past week!) about general revelation, "To look at the sky is to see evidence of the infinite power, wisdom, and even beauty of God; it is to observe a majestic witness to the glory of God." Expounding on the aforementioned verse, he further writes, "Rains and fruitful seasons, food produced from the earth, and gladness in people’s hearts, all bear witness to the fact that their Creator is a God of mercy, of love, and even of joy. These evidences of God are all around us in creation to be seen by those who are willing to see them." (pg.121) My prayer is that you can see it. And turn in faith to the Triune God.

Only in Louisiana!

Today, we're going to celebrate the "Cajun" in "From Cajun to Asian" by sharing a new movement by state officials in Louisiana promoting our heritage. Now in certain parishes in Louisiana (yes... parishes, not counties) for the low price of $5, you can get a label under your name that says, "I'M A CAJUN". How amazing is that?! You can read the entire article HERE.

Quotes from Church History - #50

"But those that are not in Christ, and are not united to him, can have no degree of communion with him; for there is no communion without union."
